Brittany and I first met in 2014 while working together at a restaurant supply company in Sioux Falls, SD and even though our professional paths diverged, we maintained a steadfast friendship. We had the opportunity to work together again, this time in 2021, for an e-commerce/trade show organization and eventually co-founded Midwest Ledgers, LLC.
Our journey included entering an accelerated graduate program in 2022 and, after 12 months of study, attained Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degrees. We continued the path to Certified Public Account (CPA) licensure and achieved full accreditation in May 2024.
We look forward to becoming trusted partners with our clientele and helping them reach their financial goals.
-Aric Baloun-
Co-Founder
Aric holds degrees of Bachelor of Arts in Accounting & Agri-Business from Dakota Wesleyan University, and Master of Accountancy from Emporia State University. His professional career spans across three decades as a corporate controller and business owner in retail, construction, e-commerce, and bookkeeping industries.
Raised among the golden fields and prairie of rural South Dakota, Aric honed his work ethic at an early age on the family farm. Embracing the belief that continuous improvement is essential, he channeled this mindset into becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He co-founded Midwest Ledgers to focus on providing personalized services over mundane number-crunching.
Aric lives in Sioux Falls, SD where his free time is spent turning his yard into a woodland garden, embracing old world skills, and crafting longbows. His wife Kirsten, and their daughter Aidyn, are the most important things in his life even if Eddie, the family’s English Cocker Spaniel, thinks he’s top dog.
Co-Founder
Brittany’s professional career includes over eleven years as a corporate accountant and business owner across industries including retail, banking, e-commerce, and bookkeeping. Co-founding Midwest Ledgers has allowed her to concentrate on helping businesses owners develop confidence in their books.
Brittany grew up surrounded by cornfields on an acreage outside of a small town in northeast IA. She put herself thru college graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and has continued to increase her skills and knowledge, attaining a Master of Accountancy from Emporia State University before becoming a Certified Public Accountant.
Brittany and her husband Steven reside in Hills, MN. She enjoys spending time with their bunny Alf and traveling. Her favorite destinations include a beach where she can bask in the sun, read a good book, try new foods, and partake of quality beverages.
Company Wellness Specialist
Born in the land of a 10,000 lakes, Edmund (aka Eddie) has developed a flourishing career in the Sioux Falls metro area.
He is excited to have joined the Midwest Ledgers team, part time, but is also happy to have people swing by and visit him at his other job working in customer relations for Dakota Plains Antiques & Collectibles.
Eddie prioritizes greeting every person, making them feel relaxed and comfortable during their time spent in the office. He wants to remind clients that petting a dog can reduce tension and simultaneously release endorphins into their system (or so he has been told).
Eddie enjoys spending his spare time making sure that "his" yard is free of birds, and partakes in the occasional (maybe more) tussle with his feline brother Mr. Gibbs. When not practicing his cat wrestling or keeping the yard clear of feathered animals, he is relaxing with his family or learning new tricks (for treats obviously).
